Great Ocean Road Tour (part 1)

Nachdem wir kurz am Surferparadies Torquai vorbeigeschaut hatten, wo eine Möwe (wahrscheinlich eine Silberkopfmöwe (Larus novaehollandiae)) den Surfern zugeschaut hat – dort habe ich diese südaustralische Kormoranart (leider nicht so ganz scharf, siehe Fotogalerie: Australische Vögel, auch für die unten genannten Königssittiche) an einem Süsswassersee gleich nebenan fotografiert – ging es weiter zum Kennett River. Interessanterweise befindet sich dort mitten in einem öffentlich zugänglichen Campingplatz ein Hotspot für wirklich knuddelige Koalas (Fotos) und Papageien, genauer: Königssittiche. Letztere wurden in der Vergangenheit gefüttert und so kam es, dass mir sofort nach meiner Ankunft ein solcher Sittich auf der Schulter gelandet ist und gar nicht mehr wegwollte. Leider kann man einen Sittich, der einem auf der Schulter sitzt, nicht fotografieren (bedenke: ich hatte mein großes Objektiv an der Kamera), aber es gab glücklicherweise noch mehr davon und so gelangen ein paar schöne Bilder.

When we took a short break at the surfer’s hot spot Torquai (where a silver gull (Larus novaehollandiae) – at least I think it was one), I was lucky to spot a little pied cormorant, unfortunately the shot is not too good (see bird pictures, also for the king parrots described below) at a small lake nearby. From there, we went on to the Kennett River, which is actually a spot for camping, but also a well-known spotting sight for cuddly Koalas (see Koala Pics) and king parrots, too. Those parrots have been fed by tourist in the past and thus I happened to have one on my shoulder just after entering the place which insisted to stay there. Actually, you cannot take a shot of a bird sitting on your shoulder (at least after mounting the big lens onto the camera), but luckily there were others of these beautiful birds to see.
